Bout of Books day 1

Bout of Books

I didn't think I would get much reading done today as most of the day was taken up with graduation. Traveling to pick up the relatives we were driving down. Travel time down to the UIC Pavilion where my  University was holding the ceremony. A 2 hour wait time that would have been perfect for reading except my nook was too big to have with me as we couldn't have any purses or bags with us on the floor of the pavilion for safety sake.

However, when I got home, I was able to read a bit. I finished up the last 40 pages of Finding my Prince Charming by J. S. Cooper. I think that I got this as a freebie on the Barnes &  Noble site.  I didn't care for it that much. I liked the idea of the story being told from both the main character Lola's viewpoint and the love interest Xavier's viewpoint. However the back and forth between her point of view and his view was a bit jarring to me as a reader.

Finding my Prince Charming by J.S. Cooper

Bout of Books 16

I plan on  taking part in the 16th round of the Bout of Books read a thon. I'm not sure how much I will get to read on Monday the 9th as I will be taking part in the graduation ceremony for Northeastern Illinois University and finally earning my bachelor's degree in early childhood education almost twenty years after graduating high school!

However I do plan on reading as much as I can the rest of the week between polishing my resume and submitting job applications to nearby school districts :)

Life has been hectic here. I plan on attempting to participate in the round 15 of bout of books week long read a thon this week.

It comes at a good time. I start my student teaching next week, and think that my reading time will be very limited afterwards.

Not sure what I plan on reading. However I plan to start with the following titles:

Black Hills by Dam Simmons of which I am currently about 200 pages from the end.

Abbadon's Gate by James S. A. Corey. This is the third book in the expanse series. Elengil and I are listening to it together, and we have about 16 hours and 30 minute left in it.

I missed last weeks books so this will be extra long :)

I found a few books at the library booksale, While headed to a nearby little free library I found a new little free library about five blocks South of where I was headed. Lastly some books that were ordered months ago came, and I'm still receiving some choco;ate tea and books sweeps packages.

1. Dragons by Michael Connelly
2.The Shape of Desire by Sharon Shinn
3. War of the Wizards - A World of Lone Wolf RPG fantasy book - I've been collecting these used since high school so I was super exited to find this one at the friends of the library booksale nook. Hopefully it isn't a double copy but the others are currently packed up in storage.
4. Lies, and the Lying Liers Who Tell Them by Al Franken
5. Chocolate by Joanne Harris
6. Survival: A Novel of the Donner Party by K. C. McKenna

More Little Free Libraries!

Evanston is sprouting Little Free Libraries all over. The following two were discovered unexpectedly while riding my bike to do errands:

Little Free Library at 1206 Hinman ave.

This Little Free Library was spotted while riding home from the library. I love the Tardis structure. It has two shelves with the bottom one full of children's and young adult/teen books and the upper shelf filled with adult books. I did not see any official markings on the box itself, so it looks like it may be unregistered.

Location: 1206 Hinman ave.
                 Evanston, IL 60202

Little Free Library at 637 Hinman ave.

While riding to drop books off at the 1206 Hinman Little Free Library I found this new to me location. I tend to ride on Hinman fairly often, so this  may be a newer Little Free Library to the neighborhood. It is located next to a tot lot playground so would be a great place for children's books. When I left my books there it was mainly filled with adult non fiction and fiction. There is an official little free library sign, but no noticeable charter number so maybe it will show up on the official Little Free Libraries map sometime soon.

Side note, A copy of Ill Wind that I released in a different localLittle Free Library and that had spent a good chunk of the spring  there was in this Little Free Library when I stopped and checked it out. With so many little libraries popping up  I can see books easily traveling from one part of the city to another just through the Little Free Libraries.
